Jonathan Rogers
Founder and Consulting Director
Offering over 25 plus years experience in Human Resource and People Management consulting, Jonathan has partnered with hundreds of private and public sector organisations throughout New Zealand and Australia. He has project managed large scale change initiatives and has designed solutions that have enabled thousands of employees to transition, elevate performance, re-deploy within a company or exit with dignity as a result of restructure and outplacement.
Jonathan holds a Higher National Diploma in Business Studies – Marketing. He is also an Accredited MBTI Personality Profiler and accredited in The Leadership Circle.
When Jonathan is not fully engrossed in Next Steps Coaching, you will find him spending as much time as possible with his expanding family.

Colin Brown
Colin has built his coaching and leadership development consulting expertise on a proven track record of 20 years successful performance in executive roles in top global organisations.
This has equipped him to be a trusted, empathetic coach and partner to senior leaders having built credibility on “both sides” of the coach/leader table. In the past 8 years, Colin has coached more than 400 leaders and facilitated 100’s of leadership skills workshops in both Australia and New Zealand.
Robyn Ellison
Robyn brings to Next Steps Coaching more than twenty years of facilitation expertise and over a decade’s experience as a coach. Robyn’s breadth of experience at all levels of an organisation allows her to quickly build rapport with her clients.
She is passionate about inspiring people to grow their self-awareness, achieve their full potential, and to create and achieve personal and professional lives they love. Robyn’s clients describe her coaching style as inspirational, intuitive and supportive with the ability to challenge compassionately.
Gwyn Hayward-Ryan
Gwyn has over over 15 years of coaching and facilitation with clients, working with all ages, levels of seniority and diverse cultures.
She has a strong interest in utilising the latest techniques from the areas of Neuroscience, Positive Psychology and Emotional Intelligence to coach her clients resulting in increased resilience, confidence and optimism to maximise personal and organisational well-being.
Barry Horne
Barry has coached thousands of employees across multiple levels of seniority and diverse professional disciplines and assisted each person to confidently identify, plan and execute their next professional steps.
Barry, with over 25 years of coaching and consulting expertise, applies an insightful, pragmatic, commercially aware, and results focused partnership coaching style. While ensuring each person’s coaching experience is highly tailored to their needs, Barry also instills in clients the skills and knowledge required to address identified pressure points and support their career, professional, and personal development.
Sue Landis
Sue Landis is a seasoned coach with over 30 years of entrepreneurial, corporate and government experience across three countries. She is a former corporate sector Board Director, and private sector CEO, which underpins her coaching with a deep business and executive leadership perspective.
Change and transition are key areas that she focuses on in her work with clients, helping them navigate a path to greater clarity, a sense of alignment with personal and work goals, and a feeling of empowerment with their future direction.
Stuart Low
Stuart has coached senior managers and high potential staff at all levels and at all stages of their careers and has helped them to identify goals, test options and to plan and implement strategies for their development and advancement.
Stuart uses his professional experience as a long-term senior manager coupled with his psychological and coaching training to help each client to confidently identify their own professional pathway and to develop a practical strategy that helps them to achieve their goals and to work effectively in demanding and often rapidly changing environments. He has helped many clients to accurately assess their interests, their needs and their skills in ways that enable them to make confident choices about their right next move as part of a carefully considered longer-term plan.
Dave McKissock
Dave brings to Next Steps an extensive Career Practice, Coaching and Mentoring, and Employment Support background from delivering a wide range of professional best practice to the lower regions of New Zealand.
Dave’s strong standing and extensive contacts across community, tertiary, secondary and alternative education institutions, business and employers’ networks have enabled him to build a reputation for ‘providing quality professional service that makes a difference’. It’s that unique point of difference that Dave offers, in particular, stands by and an attribute he has carried throughout his life.
Joanne Orchard
During the last 18 years Joanne has coached thousands of employees across multiple and diverse organisations. She has assisted each person to confidently identify, plan and execute their next career steps.
Joanne has been described by her clients as “having a style of engagement, experience, insights and frankness which is very beneficial and supportive”.
Merryl Semple
Merryl brings to Next Steps Coaching more than 15 years of corporate coaching expertise, having coached thousands of leaders across multiple levels of seniorities. Her coaching has assisted each person to strengthen their leadership capability in areas of personal leadership, performance and well-being.
Merryl’s expertise is founded on a multi-disciplinary approach drawing from the fields of neuroscience, social sciences and positive psychology. Merryl describes her coaching style as conversational, intuitive and results focused.
Dave Tams
Dave brings to Next Steps several years of experience as a coach and senior leadership and organisation development practitioner. He has worked at a senior level in multinational business including P&O, Marconi and BAE Systems across the UK, Australia, US and in the public sector in New Zealand including being the Organisation Development Manager for the Ministry of Education, HR Director for MSD and Corporate GM for Northland Regional Council.
Pragmatic and focused, Dave has led a number of change initiatives and brings extensive experience in People Strategy, Coaching, Leadership, Cultural Change and Organisational Development and Design. He provides leadership coaching and mentoring at all levels including board and senior managers
Kirsten Nicholl
Kirsten brings to Next Steps Coaching a decade’s experience as coach and facilitator. Kirsten is committed to assisting people to navigate change and maximise their potential personally and professionally.
Kirsten helps clients gain clarity and perspective by providing the tools and insights to ensure ongoing development is self-sustainable. By helping clients create awareness and understanding of their behaviour, thoughts and emotions, Kirsten enables and empowers them to increase their options and improve overall wellbeing.

Coaching within organisations and with individuals has been a passion throughout her career. She has coached senior managers and high potential individuals, helping them to identify goals and to plan and implement strategies for their development and progression.
Alyson Scott
Alyson brings to Next Steps Coaching over a decade’s experience as a career coach and in providing vocational rehabilitation services.
Alyson has extensive career counselling and coaching skills and was a teaching assistant within the School of Psychology at Massey University. She was previously a Licensed Immigration Advisor, is a Professional Member of the Career Development Association of New Zealand (CDANZ) and is a Registered Test User with the New Zealand Council for Educational Research.
